Unit 33- rehearsal logs

Tuesday 28th March-  When I first looked at the stimulus, my initial ideas were the idea of a relationship between the 2 men whether is farther and son, best man and groom or a gay marriage. My eye kept coming back to the rose and made me think about the relationship and when the rose dies it symbolises the relationship dying. I thought about the rose being a significate theme throughout the whole piece.  My groups original ideas were. -dolly and Rudi had the idea of looking at the aids epidemic in the 80's.  - Zack's idea was that the rose in the stimuli was powerful and had an impact on further decisions in peoples life's.  -Jess' idea was about a secret relationship which captivates the beauty and intimacy of it just being the 2 in the relationship knowing about it.  As a group we recognised similar ideas within each of our ideas. When I said about my idea of the rose being such a prominent figure throughout, Rudi told me that he had the same idea as in...

stimulus reflection- Mock

Mock  The stimulus our group decided was the phrase 'Good Value'. Initially, this made me think of multiple choices in life that can be from your own value and how the consequences from them can effect you.  Due to not being in this lesson as I was ill, I personally didn't understand the idea of an affair correlating to 'Good value' at the beginning however, when I spoke with my group and they explained how it linked it started to piece together in my mind.  My group explained to me how we wanted to create a piece about an affair which is based of the value of the other women and her true emotions to this man she has fallen for him.  Looking at this, made me understand what their initial idea was as when people have affairs the blame is always put to the other women, no one ever thinks how she actually feels ( this being if she doesn't know about the relationship she is breaking up).  28/02/23 All discussed ideas on this stimulus. Wrote notes and eve...

Chair duet based off work by Frantic Assembly. What was my initial response to the stimulus and why? The stimulus which was given to us was a picture of a man sitting alone surrounded by rubble and broken buildings. Me and Zack looked at all the different possibilities this could be, we looked at having a futuristic approach to creating this and making it very dystopian, When I first looked at it, I thought of the idea of the man discovering a new planet which is completely different to the one he previously was in. Me and Zack the idea of someone else being within this scene but not in the picture almost as if the man was reminiscing on the times and feelings he had. We then though about this being a past relationship and how although they are not together, their life still goes on as if they are.       What were the key stages in developing your physical  theatre piece.   When creating our d...

Devising stimuli: physical theatre

Photo of answers from questions  Video of group perform ance  What was your initial response to the stimulus and why?  When we first saw this stimulus which was a picture of a disaster/ destruction of buildings. As a group we decided to create a scene based off the rubble around the disaster and work on the idea of being lost / looking for others in situations like this. From thinking of the idea of being lost, we then looked deeper into being lost and how isolated you can feel.  We used physical theatre to create this scene, but we also wanted to add levels this being repetition of simply our breath to show impact and severity of the situation. We took a lot of inspiration from Gecko when creating this piece as we felt they used the idea of creating tension a lot and that is something that we really wanted to show within our work. We also created some sound scaping within our piece to again help build tension, for this we created a...

State clearly and discuss in detail the practitioners that influenced your work and why? One practitioner that influenced our work was Brecht. The reason for being so influenced by Brecht is because we wanted the audience to feel engaged and feel a part of our performance. We created scenes which we though would make the audience feel empathy and real emotion, an example of the scenes we created is the execution scene and an interview scene from his sister's point of view.  We also used physical theatre by using the modern dance within our piece and mime.  What practical performance skills did you and your group apply to your piece. A practical skill I feel we all used effectively was teamwork, as in this lesson we were supposed to be a group of 5 but ended up being a group of 3 due to illness. By this happening, we had to adapt our scenes make them work with only three people. We began by looking at our scenes from the previous week and decided which ones we could k...

Devising from a Theme

Image
What is your theme and why did you choose it?  To help our decision on what topic to base our performance on, we had the choice of four major themes which were Social, Cultural, Historical and Ethical.  After discussing with my group, we came to the conclusion that we wanted base our performance on the major theme of ethical as we thought we could explore a lot of different ideas within this one theme and educate ourselves and the audience members the things that are not spoken about much as they are controversial.   What is your topic and why was this chosen? What was rejected and why?  After we decided on the theme of ethical, we then decided that we wanted to explore the ongoing and very controversial death penalty which is still going on in many countries to this day. The main reason why we decided on this topic is because we thought doing a performance on something like an abortion would be to easy and not challenging us...
